📋 Key facts

Key point
Right after a notice, order books are thin and prices jump easily
New listing
In the first trades there is no reference price and no candle history yet
Caution flag
A warning that delisting is under review; it is either lifted or turns into delisting
Delisting
After trading support ends you cannot sell there; only withdrawals stay open for a set period
Caution
Fake notices are common, so confirm only through the exchange's official announcements

Why one notice can shake a chart

A listing or delisting means a place to trade the coin is added or taken away. The set of people who can trade it changes, so supply and demand shift at once, and right after the notice many people place orders at the same moment. The order book holds less volume than usual, so even small orders move the price a lot. The chart shows candles with long wicks and a sudden spike in volume bars. That is noise from information being priced in, not a shape that tells you where the price goes next.

The chart right after a new listing

A newly listed coin usually opens for deposits first and for trading later. When trading opens there is no earlier price on that exchange to anchor to, so fills scatter widely for the first few minutes. Some exchanges restrict order types or price ranges for a while after listing, so read the notice to the end. With only a handful of candles, indicators either cannot be calculated at all or carry little meaning. An indicator built on 14 candles, for example, cannot give a proper value until 14 candles exist.

  • Deposits and trading may open at different times
  • The gaps between bids and asks are wide after the first fills
  • Check the notice for any early order restrictions
  • With few candles, indicator values are hard to rely on

When another exchange lists the coin

When a coin already trading elsewhere is announced for listing on a new exchange, its price on the existing exchanges sometimes reacts first. A sudden jump in volume right after the announcement, followed by the price spiking and then giving some back, is a common sight. Listing rumors before any notice cannot be verified, and some are spread on purpose to drum up buying. If volume rises on the chart for no obvious reason, the first step is to check whether an official notice was posted.

What a caution designation is

Korean won exchanges follow jointly agreed criteria to designate problem coins as caution items and announce it. It is a warning stage meaning delisting is under review: after the designation, the project has a set period to respond, and the exchange then lifts the flag or delists the coin. Separately, there are short-term alert labels for coins whose price or volume moved sharply in a short time, which are a different mechanism from a caution designation. Reasons, periods and criteria can change, so check the exchange's official guidance.

  • Disclosures are missing or inaccurate
  • A security incident or network failure occurred
  • Actual circulating supply differs widely from the published plan
  • Legal problems or a halt in the business are confirmed

What happens after delisting is decided

Once delisting is decided, the exchange announces an end date for trading support, after which you can no longer sell there. Withdrawals stay open for a period afterward, but what happens once that period ends varies by exchange. A coin delisted on one exchange may keep trading on others, which can open a wide gap between Korean exchanges. Short, sharp swings sometimes appear as the end date nears, but they come from a market that is winding down, so it is hard to read much into them.

  • Check the exact end date and time of trading support
  • Check the withdrawal window and supported networks
  • Check that the destination exchange supports the coin
  • Order books may thin further as the end date approaches

Common mistakes right after a notice

The first few minutes after a notice are a time when reaction runs ahead of information. Most mistakes happen when people rush during that window.

  • Using a market order that sweeps a thin book in one go
  • Acting on a screenshot of the notice forwarded in a chat
  • Confusing the notice time with the actual trading start time
  • Trusting indicators on a chart with only a few candles
  • Assuming a caution flag will soon be lifted

The market radar shows every coin on one Korean exchange's won market as a heatmap of price changes, with each tile sized by trading value, and pops up alerts on sharp moves, so you can see at a glance how much a coin in the news stands out from the whole market. The volume spike scanner compares the volume of the top coins by trading value on a large global exchange with their average over the previous 20 candles, which helps when checking how an existing market reacted to news of a listing elsewhere. In the all-in-one dashboard you can open the order book and trade history for the same coin and see how empty the book is right after a notice.

A word of caution

This guide explains how listing and delisting notices show up on charts and is not investment advice. Listing criteria, caution criteria, the end of trading support and withdrawal windows differ by exchange and can change, so always confirm them in the exchange's official notices. Anyone offering to tell you about a listing in advance is very likely running a scam.
